QLD Career Boost | KCA Education

It’s time to build your career with our Career Boost courses, funded by the Queensland State Government.

The Queensland Government’s Career Boost program helps individuals take their career to the next level by developing higher-level skills to secure employment, advance in their job, or progress to further education (including university or tertiary study).

KCA Education is a Skills Assure Supplier (SAS) approved to deliver Career Boost-funded qualifications at our Browns Plains and Strathpine training locations in Queensland.

Important information

  • You can access one subsidised higher-level qualification under Career Boost (Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma), or a higher-level apprenticeship/traineeship at Certificate IV or above.
  • You may also access up to two subsidised skill sets in priority industries.
  • Once you complete a subsidised qualification through Career Boost, you will not be eligible for another general pathway qualification under this program.
  • Students may be asked to complete a short DTET survey after completing or discontinuing their training.

Payment terms

  • Concession students must pay entire fee by induction date or the first day of course commencement (whichever comes first) or make arrangements for a direct debit payment plan to be finalised prior to induction date or first day of course commencement (whichever comes first).
  • Non-concession students must pay 50% deposit of total fee by induction date or the first day of course commencement (whichever comes first) or make arrangements for a direct debit payment plan to be finalised prior to induction date or first day of course commencement (whichever comes first).

To access a subsidised training place under Career Boost, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • aged 15 years or older;
  • not be a school student;
  • permanently reside in Queensland;
  • be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen;
  • not already have a certificate IV or higher qualification (including tertiary qualification) completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count). Note: This eligibility requirement does not apply to individuals seeking to enrol in a skill set;
  • not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) number is a unique number that is allocated to students studying nationally recognised Vocational Educational Training (VET) in Australia. This is a government initiative that enables you to access all of your training records and results from the one location allowing you to provide proof of qualification to any potential employer. USI’s are mandatory to anyone wanting to complete nationally recognised training.
